Kay Burton
Coach Kay Burton has always loved being in and near the water.
Her training in synchronized swimming first began at age 11 with LA Parks and Recreation which
continued until age 16. She was also part of the Glendale YMCA Synchronized Swim Team for one year.
In addition to her love of synchronized swimming, Kay was a member of the Speed Swim Team at both Granada
Hills High School and CSUN where she attended college. Kay's years of experience swimming led her into
teaching for the LA Unified School District (1969 - 1979) and she first began coaching the
Meraquas under Dawn Bean in 1982 where she has been coaching on and off ever since.
Besides her love of water, Kay's other interests include dancing, both ballet and salsa,

US Olympic Committee for the 1983 American Cup games and the 1984 Olympics.
